COURSE OUTLINE:

Kiln carving is a type of kiln forming. The process uses materials such as fibreboard, fibre paper and plaster to add texture and relief to glass. In this class we will learn to create moulds for kiln carving out of a number of different materials. We will also look at glass cutting techniques, kiln firing schedules and precise temperature control, to create beautiful works of art.

• Beginners Glass Fusing and Slumping 17-18/11/14

COURSE OUTLINE:

Glass fusing uses the kiln to create imagery in glass. In this session we will learn how to produce simple yet affective pieces of fused glass. A number of the pieces we produce can then be slumped to create functional works of art for the home, whilst the others can be used as jewellery or stand-alone works of art. The course will introduce you to glass cutting techniques as well as the use of frits, paints and foils to create different effects. We will also cover firing schedules and cold working in this 2-day class.
