I will be in Boston again on 27th June hosting another free drop in workshop. This workshop will run from 10 – 4pm at ‘The Stump’ ,Boston. Local residents will be able to drop in throughout the day to have their say and actively assist in the creation of the Eternal Memories Water sculpture for Boston Crematorium.
The workshops will be suitable for everyone from very young families to those with an in depth knowledge of the areas history.
The workshops will give visitors and residents of Boston and the surrounding area, the unique opportunity to become involved in the design and creation of a piece of public art for the local crematorium. The end result will be a water feature created from sheets of kiln formed glass. Throughout he workshops and discussion we will be documenting memories and history to encapsulate within the piece. The artworks and discussions from the event will be used alongside outcomes from a local school and other groups to directly influence the end result.
Be part of something BIG today!!!
I will also be running a number of arts workshops exploring the theme of memories, history and remembrance.
The day will be split into sessions exploring the theme in different ways.
Session 1 – Discussion and demonstration
Public discussion about the plans for the space, and an opportunity for the community to have their say. I will also be demonstrating the techniques involved in the creation of the piece.
Session 2 – Words and images – memory mile
A chance to express your memories through drawing and writing. The floor will be covered with a long roll of paper upon which people can wright, draw, doodle or paint their memories. Individuals will be encouraged to express their memories in different ways to really explore the theme.
Session 3 – Drawing lives – remembrance
A drawing class where the group will explore different drawing techniques as a way of expressing memories, thoughts and history.
Session 4 – Timeline heritage silhouette project
We will explore our heritage through silhouettes and paper cutting. These will be linked together to create a timeline of Boston boroughs heritage.
Session 5 – Drop in session – photographs and objects
An opportunity for those with images or objects that depict or represent their memories or the history of the area, to drop in and have their pieces photographed and documented.
Session 6 – Talking memories – tea and biscuits
A final session where the group will gather to discuss their memories of the area and their own personal memories, in an informal environment.
Participants are welcome to drop in to as little or as many of these sessions as they would like.
I can’t wait to see the results!!!!
